This osteria is yet another little hidden gem in Venice. The locals in Venice seem to enjoy stopping in here as a part of their day, relaxing and watching the tourists discovering their city and having a good time. Its always a good sign when the locals enjoy spending time at an establishment as much as the visitors do, and this one is one of the favorites. Here you will find delicious treats like calamari, mini sandwiches, cicchetti (snacks), bruschetta, and antipasti, and there are offerings of fresh salads as well. Much of the menu available is fish or seafood based, and a good portion of it is deep fried, which makes for a tasty treat when its accompanied by a glass of refreshing white wine or a maybe a rich and flavorful red. While it can be a difficult place to find (as so many of these fun little places seem to be) it is well worth it.

While you’d think you would never dream of traveling all these miles over land and sea to indulge in something as relatively commonplace as a slice of pizza, this is one of the places that is meant to be visited while in Venice. Whether sticking to a strict budget is important on your trip, or you just want to try the most visited pizza joint in Venice, go here. The menu is fantastic, including order pizza to your specifications, the portions sizes are huge, and the taste of everything that comes out of those ovens is sublime. It’s crowded, and busy, and wonderful-very much worth a try. This is for take out only, so grab a slice and find the nearest park bench or romantic venue.

With a boisterous and happily loyal local crowd following as well of throngs of hungry tourists, Da Luca e Fred is one of the most popular places in Venice to stop in for bite. The ambiance is pure Italian, as is the menu. Expect to find everything here from local popular snacks (called Cicchetti) of various tasty types to full luncheon and dinner menus to satisfy your appetite. Also, offered on the menu are a great selection of wines to choose from to compliment your meals. Prices won’t break the bank for those on a budget, the crowd is friendly, and the fun is non-stop. If you want a true Italian experience, don’t let this one pass you by.
