Before your Thailand adventures begin
you might struggle with knowing what items to pack and what to leave behind.
The climate in Thailand is very warm and humid, averaging 30 Celsius throughout
the year. Even during the country’s rainy season the temperature is still hot,
so you can forget about bringing extra sweaters. Shorts, t-shirts, and
swimsuits are essential, as well as having more conservative clothes to wear if
visiting temples. Your shoulders and legs will need to be covered, but for
women wearing a long skirt or sarong will be acceptable. Comfortable walking
shoes are a must, because you will likely be doing quite a bit of walking
during your sightseeing adventures. The only other vital shoes to bring are
flip-flops. You will practically live in flip-flops when visiting the islands
or beach towns, so bring a comfortable pair or two.
Tropical strength mosquito repellant,
sunscreen, and tanning lotion are all things you may want to bring with you
from home, as these items are much more expensive to buy in Thailand. As for
electronics, you will want to pack an adapter so you can charge these using
Thailand’s power outlets. Thailand’s voltage is 220, so you will want to check
that your electronics have a compatible voltage before using the outlets to
prevent ruining the device. For extra protection, purchase a converter that
will change the voltage of your device to make it compatible with 220 volts.
It’s also a good idea to pack extra camera batteries because you will be taking
hundreds upon thousands of photos, and the last thing you’d want is for your
battery to die during a day of exploring.
