Pay A Visit to Armidale




Armidale Situated at 980 meters above sea level, Armidale is Australia’s highest city, along with being one of its prettiest. Considering how far north it is, Armidale has a distinctive academic atmosphere due to it being the home of the University of New England along with a few renowned boarding schools. Not only this, Armidale is celebrated for its outstanding scenery, which has inspired countless artists and writers over the years. Come to Armidale during the autumn, when the leaves transform into shimmering shades of red and gold, covering the streets in all their glorious colours.

Visitors flock to Armidale throughout the year due to its weather. In the winter, snow will occasionally fall, turning the town into a place of unspeakable beauty; in the springtime, the oaks and willows burst into bloom; summertime in Armidale is wonderful due to it being so high up that it is hardly ever muggy. The Oxley Wild Rivers National Park

Armidale is a picture of quaint Australian beauty and nowhere can this be appreciated than at its range of parks and gardens. The Oxley Wild Rivers National Park is perhaps the most famous of all parks in the area, being named after John Oxley, the renowned Australian explorer who travelled through here in 1818. It was listed as a World Heritage Site in 2007 and makes for an incredible experience. The Aspley Falls may be a staggering climb but the staggering views of the waterfall and gorge below from the Observation Deck is well worth the effort; Wollomomboi Falls is one of Australia’s highest waterfalls and Budds Mare consists of fabulous trails through stunning dry rainforest.

New England Wine Region

Being part of Australia’s wine region, Armidale is the perfect stop for those who enjoy the finer things in life, including wine. Due to the high altitudes and the cooler winter season, the local wine produced here has developed a distinctive aroma. Guests can get to learn and appreciate this production within Armidale.
