Why Visit Nova Scotia

Tired of cities? Why not visit a relaxing province for a change? Nova Scotia or New Scotland boasts of its beautiful sceneries and activities which will make you wanting to never ever leave. For all you hockey players out there, this is the place to be. What better way to experience the thrill of hockey than heading on to the place where it all started. That’s not even the best part. Fried pickles anyone? Nova Scotia is where you can fulfill your food desires. Any fried food you can think of, name it and Nova Scotia has it. There are lots and I say lots of things to do in this amazing province.

Maritime Museum of the Atlantic

Make your first stop at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. Nautical enthusiasts can enjoy centuries worth of naval history starting all the way back to the United States’ War of 1812. Exhibits on various maritime tragedies can be found in the museum like the Halifax explosion and the even more famous Titanic shipwreck. Come close to those who were part of the Titanic journey in the Fairview Cemetery where some of the recovered bodies were buried.

Breweries

You can take a break from strenuous tours around the province and have a refreshing drink form Nova Scotia’s famous breweries. Every corner you turn to, a brewery will be waiting for you to come and taste their delicious offerings. Just right across the Maritime Museum, you will find the famous Garrison Brewery which gives you freshly crafted all-natural beer. And it you’re up for best-selling beer, head on to the Propeller Brewing Company where it will surely quench your thirst and perfect to end your afternoon’s run.

Scenery and Adventures

If you want a great view of the area, you can make your way up to Citadel Hill and Fort George. Although it is quite a challenge to get to the top of the hill, once you’re there, you won’t regret taking the trip up. The views there are simply breathtaking.

Owing to its sea faring roots, Nova Scotia is famous for its nautical features. One of which is Peggy’s Cove where you can find the world renowned lighthouse. Feel the sea breeze and breathe in the salty air while watching simple fishing boats pass by will complete your maritime experience.

If you’re in for an adventure, you can try kayaking at the South Shore. For those of you who are tired of the regular modes of travel like driving and walking, kayaking is a sure way to get you back in the mood. As you pass by the pristine waters, you’ll get a chance to marvel over the beautiful plants and animals of the area.

As you go on with your journey, pass by Mahone Bay where you can find the three famous churches which is by what most people identify Nova Scotia with. And while you’re there, visit the shops and cafes for a rewarding experience. You can also head on to Lunenburg which was made a UNESCO World Heritage due to its rich historical background.
