A Woman’s Guide on Staying Safe in Hotels

Today, females have become more brave in traveling and they are traveling like they never did before. Despite this, there are still dangers surrounding female travelers wherever they go. If you love traveling solo, one of the things that you should focus on must be your safety in your hotel room. With that in mind, here are some of the tips that you should know about:

·         Avoid stating your full name when reserving a room.
Never ever be gender specific when reserving a room. When you give the front desk your full name, it will be easy for them to identify if you are a male and female. If they have identified you as female, it would be easy for them to pass the information around and you will become the target of thieves and people with bad intentions.

·         Make sure that the windows and doors are well locked.
Upon entering your hotel room, the first thing that you should do must be to make sure that the windows and doors are fully functioning. Before sleeping or before leaving the room, it is a must that you make sure that the doors and windows are locked so no one can easily enter your room.

·         Bring a rubber door stopper.
The more locks, the better! That is why a rubber door stopper is a must when traveling solo. If your door is inward opening, you can easily put the door stopper at the foot of the door at night and it will reinforce the security of your hotel room. This will come handy especially if your hotel door has no chain locks.

·         Avoid staying in ground floor rooms.
When booking a room, you must avoid the rooms at the ground floor. Why? Well, these rooms can be easily accessed by just about everyone. The fire escape and the balcony will give thieves and other people an easy access to your room.

·         Take a peek at the peephole.
Do not just open your door to anyone. Before opening your door, it is recommended that you check who the person behind the door first by taking a look at the peep hole first. In this way, you can be able to determine whether you should open the door or not.

Knowing how to stay safe inside the hotel room is one of the essential tips women should know about. Whether you like it or not, you cannot deny the fact that there are any dangers out there, especially when you are in a foreign destination. For your next solo trip, it is recommended that you follow the safety tips that are mentioned above.
