MONACO WITH ONLY 292, 000 VISITORS EACH YEAR

This miniature city-state of Monaco may only receive a handful of visitors staying overnight each year, but the visitors do receive a fondness for being extremely rich and powerful. Think more oligarch than backpacker. The French Riviera is a wonderful place to park your yacht and the casino in Monte Carlo is the “it” place if you want to be seen.

SAN MARINO WITH ONLY 139, 000 VISITORS EACH YEAR

San Marino’s size is only 60 square kilometres, but it makes Liecthenstein look huge in comparison. This is the reason why it is included in this list, as not many of the tourists that visits San Marino truly stay overnight and therefore not included in the numbers. However, the ones who do stay overnight can enjoy their time doing some sightseeing in the country’s nine settlements, visiting its castles and soaking up the history of the world’s oldest republic.

BELARUS WITH ONLY 119, 000 VISITORS EACH YEAR

Often tagged as the last dictatorship of Europe, pretty much says everything you need to know as to why Belarus is one of the least visited countries in the world. That being said though, the country is actually pretty safe for tourists despite its diminutive political process, it’s just that it lacks any kind of iconic tourist spots to bring visitors in. Minsk is the country’s capital, is a charming city that’s a lovely place to pass a few day by.

LIECHTENSTEIN WITH ONLY 54, 000 VISITORS EACH YEAR

This country has a population of only 36, 000, so it’s actually doing pretty good in the tourism game. The tiny principality is only 10 square kilometres, and is set high in the Alps amid Switzerland and Austria. Its capital, Vaduz, does have a number of cool places to visit like a castle, wineries and a car-free city centre. But instead of just visiting, why not rent and rule the country too? For just a whopping $70, 000 per night, tourists can rent the entire country. The residents will of course remain, so it’s actually more of a sharing agreement. However, guests get to hob knob with the crowned prince and accommodation is for up to 150 guests.

MOLDOVA WITH ONLY 11, 000 VISITORS EACH YEAR

Moldova is probably the least visited country in all of Europe. There are a number of reasons why, first is that it is hard to get to being sandwiched between Ukraine and Romania, it may have some excellent wineries, but it doesn’t have any iconic tourist spots, and part of it is Transinistria, which is a de-facto separate republic that is a throwback to the glory days of USSR.
