Check These Off on Your Bucketlist When in Italy

Eat the Best Risotto of Your Life at Al Gatto Nero in Venice

One of the tricky things about a trip to Italy is finding the time to fit in all the incredible meals, and quite frankly, you might just have to have five meals a day and deal with the extra calories. One of the places where we’d happily eat five times a day is called Al Gatto Nero in Venice. This is a very local trattoria that serves up fresh seafood, great pasta dishes, but the highlight is the risotto. Tiny fish typical of the area are added to the risotto, and it’s completely delicious.

Explore the Trauttmansdorff Castle Gardens

Italy is a country with many gorgeous gardens, and if you love nothing more than flowers, plants, and trees, we think that you’ll be very fond of the Trauttmansdorff Castle Gardens, which you’ll find in Marano. These gardens were created in 1850, and there are many different zones. You will find forests of the world with conifers and deciduous trees, the sun gardens, which contains plants of the Mediterranean, a water garden, and lots more besides.

Dance In a Club With Fish Under the Floor

The Amalfi coast is well known for its gorgeous landscapes and quaint fishing villages, but what if you want to party? Then you need to know about Africana Club, a place where you can dance to beats in the town of Praiano. The unique selling point of this particular club is that part of it has a glass floor right over the ocean, so while you are dancing you can see marine life swimming around beneath you.

Feel Roman History at the Pantheon

The Pantheon is one of the best known sites in Rome, and indeed Italy, but don’t be tempted to skip it because of the tourist crowds because it really is something to behold. This former Roman temple was built in the first part of the 2nd century, and is one of the best preserved Ancient Roman buildings to be found anywhere, probably because it has constantly been in use, and thus, looked after. These days the Pantheon is a Catholic church.

Cool Off in Florence’s Paolo Costoli Pool

If you make it to Florence in the summertime, you’ll be searching for ways to cool off in the strong midday sun. Fortunately, Florence has one of the most gorgeous public swimming pools that we have ever seen. The Paolo Costoli pool is an oasis amongst the heat, and not only will you get the chance to cool down in the water when you visit, but you can also treat yourself to refreshments at the two poolside bars.
