Start Your Day at Tazza d’Oro in Rome
If you are the kind of person who can’t
function in the morning until you’ve had a caffeine hit courtesy of a strong
cup of coffee, you’re in luck because, of course, Italy is well known for being
one of the coffee centres of the universe. To be honest, you’ll have zero
problems finding great coffee right across the country, but we particularly
enjoy starting the day at Caffe Tazza d’Oro in Rome, a historical café that
dates back to 1946, where the coffee beans are roasted and blended right there.
Eat Bigoli Pasta in the Veneto Region of Italy
A bowl of pasta is a bowl of pasta, right?
Wrong! Once you’re in Italy for a little while you’ll begin to appreciate that,
for Italians, pasta is its very own culinary world. Each region has its own
take on the good stuff, and if you make it to the Veneto region, something that
you should order a heaped bowl of is the local bigoli pasta. This pasta is
either made with buckwheat or whole wheat, and enriched with duck eggs, so it’s
very robust and perfect for winter days.
Be Awed by the Castel Sant’Angelo
There’s plenty to see and do in Rome, and if
you’re a fan of local history, try to squeeze in a trip to the Castel
Sant’Angelo if you can, which Hadrian had built as a mausoleum for himself and
his family. The building then went on to become a fortress and a castle, and
it’s now used as a museum. You can retrace the history of this museum in the
building, and it also has collections of Renaissance paintings, pottery, and
antique weapons.
Sail to Capri From Naples
Located in the Bay of Naples, the island of
Capri is known as a place where the jetset holiday, with upscale villas,
designer boutiques, and incredible restaurants. It’s also a spot that’s very
popular for people who love to take to the waters with a spot of sailing, and a
great way of getting back to the mainland is via a yacht. If you’re on a
budget, take the ferry and you’ll still get to feel the wind in your hair and
look at the beautiful waters and coastal landscapes!
Stay in an 11th Century Building on the Amalfi
Coast
When you are on holiday, it is the time to
treat yourself and do things that you would never normally dream of doing. We
can’t say that it’s not expensive, but if you really feel like getting
decadent, staying in an 11th century building on the Amalfi coast certainly
sounds like something extra special to us. Villa Cimbrone is exactly that, a
gorgeous villa that sits on a rocky outcrop so that you have unparalleled views
of the coastline.
