Weird Things You Will See in Vietnam

Vietnam is the haven for people who love culture as it has experienced many changes in their government for the past few decades. They have been governed by Chinese dynasties for a millennium. Additionally, they have been ruled by the French government and have been occupied by American troops. Because of this, Vietnam offers plenty of things for you to see, enjoy and experience. Some are interesting while some are just plain weird. Here are just some of the weird things that you will see when in Vietnam:

·         The Pyjama Fashion

We all love to wear pyjamas..at home. However, wearing pyjamas is the norm in Vietnam. In fact, most women in rural areas even wear pyjamas when going to work. This is the place where you can see almost all types of pyjamas—from matching floral shirts, to full length loose trousers and up to colorful button ups. They have and wear almost all types of pyjamas that you can ever think of! AT first look, the entire wardrobe may look weird and bizarre but as time goes by, you may even envy them about how comfortable they look. You might even want to join in the craze at some point.

·         Silkworms

There are many weird things that you can see in Vietnam. You may think that seeing silkworm is just normal but wait til you see what are the things they do with it. In Vietnam, you will be able to see how they extract an age-old silk from the mulberry-fed worms. The silkworms are boiled in a  large pot killing the larvae inside. After that, the women catch the strands of silk that are being released from the cocoons. This experience is enjoyable but what they do with the silkworms after will surely surprise you. These worms are fried and eaten! This may seem icky but try it—these worms are delicious!

·         Buddha Themed Amusement Park

Who says that entertainment and religion do not go hand in hand? For your information, the Vietnamese can do that! In fact, they have already done that with their Buddha-themed amusement park! All over the park, you can see Buddha figures and you can even pray to these Buddha before you jump into some of the craziest and scariest rides you can ever be in!

·         Weasel-Poo Coffee

Vietnam is one of the largest coffee producer in the world. They have one of the richest and most delicious coffee you can ever taste but its origin can be quite disgusting. This is because the coffee they make comes from a weasel poo. The weasel eats berries, they digest it then they produce coffee beans with very rich flavor.

These things may seem weird to you but these are very common in Vietnam. Keep in mind that there are some things to remember and enjoy when traveling to Asia and these are just some of those things that you will encounter during your trip.
